Rehabilitation & Recovery services – Northumberland, Tyne &Wear NHS Foundation Trust – NCCMH

These services focus on providing care for people with complex mental health needs in high dependency rehabilitation units, complex care wards, ‘move on’ rehabilitation units and community rehabilitation. By developing a range of rehabilitation units, the services are able to effectively step-down from acute to rehabilitative care in a safe and therapeutic way. This facilitates continuity of care and progression towards living well in the community.

Care is provided in a positive and encouraging environment, facilitated by a multidisciplinary workforce, including input from peer support workers who are accessible through the recovery colleges, and an education liaison worker.

Everyone is offered individual cognitive behavioural therapy, family therapy, or other psychological intervention based on each person’s needs. All interventions, including pharmacological, are individualised and based on the person’s short and long-term recovery goals, to promote social inclusion and reduce stigma and isolation.
